Side by Side
Orange peel
Fine sprayed bumps. Quiet look. Common in homes and offices.
Knockdown
Sprayed, then flattened. Larger pattern. Hides more than orange peel.
Old world / skip trowel
Hand-applied, plaster-like. Every house has its own stroke.
Level 4 / Level 5 smooth
No texture. Modern. Shows light, paint sheen, and framing waves.
Popcorn
Heavy ceiling texture. Often removed, then finished knockdown, orange peel, or smooth.
Swirl and other hand patterns
Less common. If it is already in the house, we match from photos rather than renaming it.
How to Choose
- Match the rest of the house on a repair or addition
- Want hide: knockdown or orange peel
- Want modern flat: Level 4 or Level 5, and straight framing
- Want plaster character: old world / skip trowel
- Have popcorn: remove it, then pick one of the finishes above

Which texture is cheapest?
A sprayed orange peel or knockdown is usually less labor than Level 5 or a hand-troweled old world. Matching an existing wall is priced from photos.
