What Old World Texture Is
Old world texture is a hand-applied drywall finish with random ridges, skips, and flattened areas. People also call similar looks skip trowel, Santa Fe, or Mediterranean. It is not orange peel and it is not knockdown. Those are sprayed. This one is worked with a trowel.
Because it is done by hand, every house has its own pattern. A repair that uses the wrong stroke size will show. Ron Hogan Drywall has been family-owned since 1970. Send a close-up photo in raking light so we can match the depth and movement already on the wall.

How We Match It
- Study the existing stroke size, depth, and how much of the wall is skipped vs. covered.
- Finish the patch or new board so the base is sound.
- Hand-apply texture to the same scale as the surrounding wall.
- Leave it ready for primer and paint. Paint sheen will change how strong the texture reads.
This is not a good first DIY project. A wrong trowel pattern on one wall is visible from the doorway.

Can you match a 20-year-old texture?
Usually yes. Photos in side lighting help more than a name. We match scale and depth, then blend the edges.
Is this Venetian plaster?
