Drywall Finishing in Fairfield, CA
Texture match or a true smooth wall. We tape, coat, and finish Fairfield homes from our Palmer Circle shop — knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, Level 4, or Level 5. A 1970s ranch next to a new kitchen will show if we guess the pattern.
This Is Our Shop City
Ron Hogan Drywall has been family-owned since 1970. The shop is at 2380 Palmer Circle in Fairfield — not a fake downtown storefront. This page is drywall finishing and drywall texture in Fairfield, CA — downtown / Texas Street, Cordelia, Rancho Solano, Paradise Valley, Green Valley, Lawler Ranch, Tolenas, and streets near Travis Air Force Base.
Text “Fairfield” with the photo. If the scope is hang-and-finish or a real texture match, we schedule it.
Finishing We Do in Fairfield
Tape, mud, and sand
Joints and fasteners coated the right number of times. This is the work under every texture and every smooth wall.
Texture match
A kitchen, addition, or patch that has to look like the orange peel or knockdown already in the house. Textures →
Level 4 smooth
The usual painted wall under flat or eggshell in normal light. Most bedrooms and hallways live here.
Level 5 skim
Full-field skim for hillside or golf-course glass, dark paint, or higher sheen. Framing has to be straight first. Level 4 & 5 →
Popcorn off, new finish on
Remove the ceiling texture on 1970s central stock, repair the board, then knockdown, orange peel, or smooth. Popcorn removal →
Repair that disappears
Water cuts, holes, and cracks finished to the surrounding texture. Repair →
Which Texture Belongs on a Fairfield Wall
| Finish | Use it when | Skip it when |
|---|---|---|
| Match existing | Kitchen, addition, or patch on a central ranch or a Rancho Solano wall | The whole house is going smooth on purpose |
| Knockdown | The rest of the house already has it — common on 1970s central stock | A modern smooth spec |
| Orange peel | Builder texture already on Cordelia, Rancho Solano, and later planned streets | You are matching heavy knockdown |
| Skip trowel / old world | Hand pattern already in the house | You need a factory-flat wall |
| Level 4 | Smooth, normal light, flat or eggshell | Green Valley glass and dark paint will rake the joints |
| Level 5 | Hillside or golf-course sidelight, dark color, higher sheen | The studs wave. A skim follows the framing — common on 1977-median stock |

Downtown Ranches vs Cordelia Tracts vs Rancho Solano Glass
Fairfield is the Solano County seat at I-80, I-680, and Highway 12 — ZIPs 94533 and 94534. The median house dates to about 1977. Downtown and Texas Street still hold earlier houses and mid-century ranches, often with popcorn and mixed patches. Cordelia sits at the I-80 / I-680 junction with later family tracts. Rancho Solano (about 1990, gated golf-course streets), Paradise Valley, and Green Valley are planned and hillside rooms with more glass. Travis-adjacent housing needs occupied-schedule dust control. Those rooms do not take the same spec.
The usual job is an occupied kitchen meeting original tract texture. A cheap skim on 1970s framing will flash. Matching the house still beats a trend texture in one room. Dark paint in a Green Valley view room more often wants Level 4 or Level 5 — and the plane has to be straight.
Send a wide shot and a shot into the window. That photo decides match vs Level 4 vs Level 5 faster than a tract name.

Fairfield Finishing FAQs
Do you do drywall finishing in Fairfield?
Yes. This is our shop city. Texture match, Level 4, Level 5, popcorn removal, and repair blend in 94533 and 94534.
Can you match orange peel or knockdown on a remodel?
Yes. That is the usual Fairfield request when a kitchen meets a 1970s ranch or a Cordelia / Rancho Solano tract wall. Photos in side light first.
Do I need Level 5 in Fairfield?
Only if the light and the paint need it — Green Valley or Rancho Solano glass, dark color, satin or gloss. Eggshell in a soft-lit bedroom is usually Level 4. 1970s framing often cannot take a Level 5 promise.
Can you skim old texture to smooth?
Often yes, if the board is sound. Old knockdown to Level 5 is more work than finishing new board. Popcorn-off-then-smooth is a common central-Fairfield scope.
Do you work in occupied Fairfield houses?
Yes. We protect floors and contain dust. A whole-house skim is still a dusty job — plan rooms. Travis-adjacent housing needs the same occupied-schedule care.
Do you work in Cordelia, Rancho Solano, and Green Valley?
Yes. Those areas, downtown / Texas Street, Paradise Valley, Lawler Ranch, Tolenas, and streets near Travis Air Force Base are on the same finishing page. Text the street with the photos.
How much does drywall finishing cost in Fairfield?
It follows the finish, the square footage, and whether we match texture or skim. Photos first. Written scope — no hidden fees.
Are you licensed in California?
Yes. CSLB #265709. Look it up before you book us or anyone else.
