The Drywall Repair Process
A repair is not “put mud in the hole.” The patch has to be sound, dry, and matched to the wall around it. Here is the order we use.

Step by Step
1. Look at the damage — and why it happened
A doorknob hole is one job. A stain from an active leak is another. If the water is still coming, stop that first. Water-damaged drywall →
2. Protect the room
Floors and furniture get covered. Occupied houses stay livable.
3. Cut back to sound board
Soft, wet, or crumbled gypsum comes out. A clean square on framing beats mud piled on paper that is already failing.
4. Patch or replace
Small dents can take compound. Larger holes get a piece of board fastened to the studs or to backing.
5. Tape and coat
Joints get tape and thin coats with dry time between them. That is how the seam disappears.
6. Match the texture
Knockdown, orange peel, old world, or smooth — the patch has to match the field or you will see it from the doorway.
7. Leave it paint-ready
We prime-ready the repair. Painting the whole wall is often a separate line. Ask when you book.

How long does a repair take?
A small hole can be same-day plus dry time. Water damage and large cut-outs take longer because coats have to dry.
Can I skip texture matching?
You can. You will see the patch. Matching is the part people hire.
